Waitlist for the 2026-2027 School Year Only

If you missed the Pre-K lottery, it’s not too late! We encourage families to add their child to our Pre-K waitlist for the 2026–2027 school year. We will contact families if placements become available. Your child must be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2026.

The lottery drawing was on March 3, 2026 at 10AM. All families who have entered into the lottery have been chosen.
Please see below for a link to watch the lottery live and for the list in which the numbers were called. Please be reminded that placements will be sent out to families via email mid-late March.

Lottery Drawing Results

A: Your child must be four (4) years old on or before December 1 of the current school year to be eligible to participate in the prekindergarten lottery and attend the program.

A: The prekindergarten lottery is typically held in late February or early March. Families will receive an email with a link to view the live Zoom lottery drawing. The link will also be posted on the district website. If you are unable to watch the lottery live, a list of the lottery numbers selected and the order in which they were drawn will be posted on the district website by the end of the day.

A: Families will receive an email from the Hicksville Prekindergarten Department in mid-to-late March with their child's school placement.

A: A waitlist link will be posted on the Hicksville Public Schools website at the end of March. Please add your child to the waitlist when it opens on our website. If a placement becomes available, you will be contacted by email and given instructions on how to accept the placement and complete registration.

A: Placements may become available throughout the spring and summer as families decline offers or move out of the district. Waitlisted families will be contacted if a seat becomes available.

A: You may register your child after you have received and accepted your placement offer.

A: No. Due to limited seat availability and high demand, placement changes cannot be accommodated.

A: Transportation is not provided for our prekindergarten students.

A: Our program is full-day (5 hour days) and will follow the Hicksville Public School calendar.

A: Families will receive registration instructions after accepting a placement. Required documents may include proof of residency, proof of age, immunization records, and other district-required forms.

A: Due to limited seat availability and the lottery placement process, requests for specific classmates, friends, or school placements cannot be accommodated. Siblings will be placed together.
