BOE Meeting Dates
The Hicksville School District’s Board of Education is composed of local residents, charged by state law to provide for a free and appropriate education to district students. They are elected by district residents to set policies and objectives. Board members serve without pay for a three-year term. Throughout the year, they attend seminars and workshops offered for new officers and trustees by regional organizations.
The Board of Education welcomes residents, staff members and other interested persons to its meetings. A link to view meetings in a livestream format is posted to the district website. Decisions made by your local elected School Board affect the district’s educational program and the well-being of the Hicksville community.
Setting Policy
The Board establishes and revises policies that guide district-wide operations. Work is guided by the District’s Mission Statement and Vision Statement. The Board of Education’s Policy Manual is available on the district’s website.
Meeting Format
The Board of Education holds committee meetings encompassing the areas of communications, curriculum, facilities, finance, policy and safety. These meetings occur monthly and specific dates and times are listed in this calendar.
The dates for all scheduled Board meetings and budget meetings are indicated in this calendar. Public notice will be given for any date not indicated on the calendar. Meeting notices are posted on the district website.
The Board of Education meets on a monthly basis to conduct district business. The format for these meetings is as follows:
