On March 11, 2016, Hicksville High School students Maaz Ansari, Catherine Chen, Viren Fernandes, Milin Luthra, Gurkirat Parhar, and Amber Pelczynski won second place at the Medical Marvels Research Competition held at the Feinstein Institute. The students created a plan to encourage health and wellness in a multi-cultural community. Students worked collaboratively and were advised by their Social Science Research teacher, Ms. Stephanie Piscitelli. The Northwell Health Medical Marvels Program was established by The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the Center for Workforce Readiness. The purpose is to encourage Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) career pathways for Long Island High School students in 9th and 10th grades.
