On Friday, October 28,2016 fifth grade students visited Caumsett Historic Park on the North Shore of Long Island. Students explored the seashore looking for once living organisms. They took a walk through a salt marsh where students learned how important a salt marsh is for protecting the land from flooding. Later in the day, some students learned the "Rule of 3" for survival and how to build shelter in a forest. Other fifth graders hiked through the park learning to use a map and a compass. It was a day well spent learning about the great outdoors.
