"Hicksville High School Natural Helpers held their annual retreat on October 5th and 6th to train new members. During the retreat, they participated in an hour long More than Sad, Teen Depression training to learn the signs of depression, how to help and talk to each other and how to save a life on October 5th.

The high school’s Class of 2016 graduated with their proud families, friends, administrators, members of the board of education and teachers applauding their hard work and celebrating their significant milestone. The beautiful ceremony, held on the back field of the school, featured several motivational speeches delivered to the graduating class as they prepare to close one chapter of their lives and begin another. On April 21st Hicksville High School celebrated the annual Scholar's Dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
On Friday April 15, Hicksville High School hosted a performance by Dr. K’s Motown Review. The eleven piece ensemble led by Hicksville High School Alum, bassist Paul Korman, mingled the events of the 19060s-70s America with stories of Hicksville High School. The near capacity crowd was dancing in the aisles to hit songs as if they were on American Bandstand. High School music teacher Ms. Noll and her string ensemble students joined the band for two songs. Another Hicksville Alum Tommy Sullivan, of 1960s band Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge opened the show with an upbeat set that concluded with a rousing rendition of God Bless the U.S.A... All the veterans in the audience were invited on stage to thunderous applause. Thank you to the Hicksville Alumni Association for their initiation of this great event. (Click here for the full story)

The Helping Hands club held a mitten and glove drive to help warm the hands of visitors to the INN- Interfaith Nutrition Network and also made holiday cards that were delivered to nursing home residents
Members of the National Art Honor Society helped bring a smile to the community in December, by painting the windows of McDonalds in Hicksville with festive holiday scenes.
The Mock trial club will be competing in the NYSBA Mock Trial competition which will take place in February.
The New York State Department of Education has informed school districts that additional Integrated Algebra Regents(2005 Learning Standards) exams have been scheduled for February 25 and June 1, 2016. Please note that this exam is NOT open to students who began learning algebra under the Common Core curriculum. All Regents Exams dates and time have been updated on the district calendar including the Common Core Algebra 2 Regents exam. Students should check in with their math teacher for more information.

Boys’ State of NY sponsored by the American Legion is a leadership building program for juniors. The criteria for selection are the following: high GPA, interest in politics, government and leadership, and history of community service. Each year a Hicksville High School junior is selected by the American Legion to participate.
Seventeen Hicksville High School students participated in the annual Poetry Out Loud competition in the Kristoff Theater. The students were required to memorize two poems and recite them. (Click here for full story)
